It's been a really long time since my last blog. We were busy with packing to move, moving, cleaning out rental house, and still unpacking. We love love love our new house!!! I can't believe we are finally in it. We closed on Dec 30-4 months and 1 day from signing the contract to build!
Now that we're in the house, it's been fun watching our block change! When we started our house, it was ours and our neighbors. There are now 6 other houses that are in some stage of the building process. All but one of the 17 lots have sold! Housing market is improving!
Overall, moving day was a success but very very stressful. We had our final walk through at 8:00, closing at 9:30, meeting our salesperson at 11 at the house, movers coming at noon, blind installer coming at noon, Phone company coming between 12-3, and Andy had to work that night. The next morning DirecTv came at 8 as did the fridge. Andy got home from work right about the time they came. He was excited to be in the new place and only got about 3 hours of sleep before going back to work that night. I was off of work all week which was good but after all that I needed some more days off to recover. HAHA!
We did have a call about a foster to adopt placements for two kiddos....two days before we closed and moved! The two kiddos were really struggling as parental rights had just been terminated and foster parents who were going to adopt them, changed their mind. We knew that we would need to give them lots and lots of care and attention to help the move not be too traumatizing. We told our case manager that with the rental house being a disaster due to packing and the chaos of moving in two day that we didn't think it would be in the kids best interest to move in the rental house and then move again two days later. We said that if current foster parent could keep them for two more days we would love to have them placed with us.
Their case manager tried and tried to get our case manager to convince us to go ahead and take them right then. What happened to doing what's best for the kiddos? Anyways, we found out..in the middle of our closing on the new house..that the kids' caseworker went with another family. We of course were disappointed but knew that if was meant to be, it would have happened.
That was the first call we had in 2 months and 3 weeks..if not longer. I am really surprised that we haven't had more calls. The waiting has been getting harder and harder. More on that later.
Andy's mom and Bob were here last weekend and were able to see the house. We were so excited for them to see it! They really liked it which made us very happy! It was great to see them and we'll be seeing them again in a few weeks up in Keystone. YEAH! I love spending time in the mountains..just a great place to escape.
I will post some updated house pics very soon

We got 3 calls for babies/children that dcfs wanted to place with us that never worked out before we got "the one" that did work out. I thank god every day because she's the absolute perfect match... and yours will be too.
