It's been a busy week!

There's been lots going on the past week! It made the week fly by! On Monday, we headed to the mountains to visit Andy's mom and her husband. We picked up his brother, Matt, on the way to the airport. It was great to spend some time with family as well as just get out of town. I don't know what it is about the mountains but being up there is so relaxing. It's like being in a different world. The two days we were there flew by...Andy and his family did lots of skiing. I sat inside and watched the people ski as I sat by the very warm fireplace.

We received info from the 3 adoption agencies in the Indy area. Going through the info, we've already decided against one of them. I'm sending questions to the other two. It's great to kind of get the process started. We also decided to skip another month of me taking Clomid. It was great to feel "normal" again!

My beloved Colts...lost today. UGH!!! Guess I'll have to cheer fot the Patriots now...that will make Andy happy! He "thinks" if/when we have a baby boy, his name will be Brady...after Tom Brady. Hmmm..we'll see about that one. =)

This will be my first full week of work this year due to holidays as well as taking some time off. I hope it goes by quickly! This week will be Andy's first week with his new schedule. First time since we've been together that he will have Sat and Sun. off. YEAAAAAAAH!!! We can actually do a date night. We're hoping we'll hear something this week from one of the police depts. Andy has applied too. We really want to move by May or June. Keeping our fingers crossed!!!

Just like me

I was watching VH1 and they had a special on about DMC from Run DMC. It was about him learning he was adopted and searching for his birth parents. His parents didn't tell him he was adopted until he was an adult. It was really interesting and something I could really relate to.

I have always known that I was adopted. My parents were very open about it and answered all my questions...at least the ones they could. My mom even kept a letter I wrote to Santa when I was little where I asked for all the gifts I wanted as well as give my birthmommy a good gift. I always wondered why my birthmom gave me up for adoption and always wanted to know if I looked like someone.

That last part may sound strange but growing up, I'd always here how this person looked like their mom or had their dad's nose. I'd always here..you're so tall..where do you get your height from(I'm 5'10" and my dad is maybe 5'9"). Sometimes I'd give the I'm adopted answer or sometimes I'd say the milk man. Going to the dr. was always fun...does this run in your family? my answer: don't know I'm adopted. Dr: oh, they didn't give you that info, I'm sorry. When I was born, they didn't get this info from the birth parents.

In 2003, I received an e-mail from someone who said they thought they were my birthsister. I had received e-mails like that previously so I didn't think much of it. We exchanged e-mails back and forth and it sounded like the person she was searching for was me. I have to admit I had mixed emotions...excitement, nervousness, as well as some hesitation. Fast forward two weeks and I received a letter from the state that we were a match. I found out that my mom was very young when she had me and her mom sent her away to have me and gave me up for adoption. My birthmom and birthfather eventually got married and had two kids...Charlotte and Charles. I also found out that my name at birth was Christie(interesting story on that later on). Birthmom and birthdad eventually divorced. Where did they live....Evansville. Where I had been living the 6 years before I moved to Colorado...freaky!

Charlotte and I have communicated via e-mail and instant messenger. We've talked on the phone a few times. I have to say it's really interesting learning about my birthfamily. On the show last DMC met his birthmom which was amazing to watch. Will I want to do this someday? I don't know..I have mixed feelings about it. I know I want to "officially" meet Charlotte(hope she wants to as well). I won't get the chance to meet my birthfather as he passed away a couple of years ago. I did write him a letter that I was told by his sister that he received and read.
DMC has a new song out with Sarah Mclachlan called Just like me... He said that her songs really helped him through some tough phases in life and wanted her to be a part of this song. He later found out that she is also adopted.

Ok, this is long and I'm rambling but just had to "type" it out...that's what blogs are for. =) He said something during the show that I really liked... My birthmother gave me life, my adoptive mother allowed me to experience it. My parents have been amazing and never would I have wanted it any other way. The choice my birthmother made was the best choice. I have two parents that have given me a wonderful life as well as having my sister, Laura. I can't imagine my life without her. They have made me who I am and hopefully I can one day some how thank them.

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's 2008 already!! 2007 flew by! I can remember about a year ago, Andy and I were talking with our friend Mike. We were already for 2006 to be over. He told us that 2007 was going to be a great year for all of us. He was right! We officially decided we were going to start trying to conceive as well as start the process to move closer to our families. Andy applied to several police departments in Indiana and has started the hiring process with 2 departments. In August, we put our house on the market. We sold it in 2 months and was very happy with selling price. In November, we moved into an apartment which has been an adjustment for us and the dogs but that was the step we needed to take before we moved. The very last day of 2007, Andy received a call from one of the police departments he is testing with and they scheduled an interview for this Thurs. YEAHHHHHH!

On Monday, I had to get Mike's prediction for 2008 since the one for 2007 was a good one. He said 2008 is going to be even better for all of us. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! He is also trying to move back to the midwest to be closer to his family and his girlfriend(who happens to be my cousin).

I decided not to do resolutions this year but goals-eat more healthy, work on our budget/savings, exercise more, and to be a better wifey. I know our two goals as a couple is to move as well as have a baby. I will probably do 2-3 more IUI's and then we'll start the adoption process. I'm very excited about starting the process and have been doing lots of research and reading on it. I guess our first goal of moving will have to happen first.

Another goal that I have is to meet my birth sister, Charlotte. We have been e-mailing for about 4 years now but haven't ever met. It's something that I've always thought about and am at the point that I'm ready for this to happen. I look at her picture alot to see if I see any resemblance. I think we have the same cheek bones and smile but that's about it. I've seen pictures of my birth brother and we have the same nose. Up until a few years ago, I could never say that I looked like someone. I always would look at strangers to see if I saw some resemblance. Never did.
Ok, enough with my rambling for now. =) I wish everyone a Happy New Year!
