Got some great news last night!

My sister, Laura, and her husband, Phillip, are coming to visit us in November-actually in 42 days! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! I really think having her and Phillip visit will help with being homesick. We are going to have to make sure to have some good sister time!! Just in case it's not obvious, I'm so excited(as is Andy) for them to be here. We'll have to make sure to take Phillip by the new Med School here so he can see how great it is. =) If we're going to be here in Colorado for awhile, it sure would be great to have some other family members here!!

The meeting I was supposed to go to last night is actually next Thursday. I also talked with another agency yesterday and we are going to go to a meeting with them as well. I know they are both great and we will be going through one of them for sure. In talking with the representative yesterday, it really gave me hope that the dream of us having a child isn't as far as way as we feared it may be.

I was reading a blog today that belongs to my cousin's cousin. Her and her husband had their second child in July 2008. They learned in the beginning of September that she has some health issues that are pretty serious. Earlier this week, the doctor told them that L "is a miracle baby" as some of the issues seem to be correcting themselves. Please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that prayers can go a long way and "miracles" can really happen.

First meeting tomorrow night!

I'm going to our first meeting tomorrow night to start the foster to adopt process. YEAH!!! Andy and I will start the classes probably after the first of the year. I talked to the supervisor of the Recruiting Unit a couple of days ago and she said they will work with us and Andy's crazy work schedule..woo hoo! I also had to make sure there wasn't a conflict since I used to work for this same Dept of Human Services. We were looking online at some of the kids who are currently waiting for their forever family. It's sad that there are so many kids that need homes and there aren't forever families for all of them! We did e-mail about one of the kids so hopefully we'll get some information from the caseworker soon. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we start this journey.

What do I think God meant when he gave me infertility?

I found this posted on another girl's blog who is also dealing with infertility. I do not know the author.

"Couples experiencing infertility often receive well-meaning but extremely insensitive "advice." We can all list the most popular ones: "Just relax and you'll get pregnant," or "Adopt and you'll get pregnant." Of the most painful from those who think they've got the goods on God's plan, "Maybe God never meant for you to have children." The sheer audacity of making a statement like that never fails to amaze me.

"These same people would never walk up to someone seeking treatment for cancer and say, "Maybe God never meant for you to live." However, because I am infertile, I'm supposed to get on with my life. It's hard to understand that people can not see infertility for what it is, a disease for which I have to seek treatment. What if Jonas Salk had said to the parents of polio victims, "Maybe God meant for thousands of our children to be cripples, live in an iron lung or die." What if he'd never tried to find a cure? Who could think for one minute that that was God's plan?

What do I think God meant when he gave me infertility? I think he meant for my husband and me to grow closer, become stronger, love deeper. I think God meant for us to find the fortitude within ourselves to get up every time infertility knocks us down. I think God meant for our medical community to discover medicines, invent medical equipment, create procedures and protocols. I think God meant for us to find a cure for infertility.

No, God never meant for me not to have children. That's not my destiny; that's just a fork in the road I'm on. I've been placed on the road less traveled, and, like it or not, I'm a better person for it. Clearly, God meant for me to develop more compassion, deeper courage, and greater inner strength on this journey to resolution, and I haven't let Him down.

Frankly, if the truth be known, I think God has singled me out for a special treatment. I think God meant for me to build a thirst for a child so strong and so deep that when that baby is finally placed in my arms, it will be the longest, coolest, most refreshing drink I've ever known.

Yes, one way or another, I will have a baby of my own. And the next time someone wants to offer me unsolicited advice I'll say, "Don't tell me what God meant when He handed me infertility. I already know."

Oops..it's been a while

It's been awhile since my last post..eeks! Lots has been going on and some decisions have been made. YEAH! We will be moving out of our apt and moving into a house on Nov. 1! YEAH!!! More room, big yard for the dogs, and no more noisy neighbors! A co-worker is getting married and decided to rent her house that she just bought a year ago. It's only two miles from where we currently live and it's a great house! We are still hoping to move closer to our families but we just couldn't handle apartment life much longer!

Since we will be in a house in Nov, we're going to start the process to foster/adopt. YEAHHHHHHHH! I said a few posts ago, we had decided to start "living" and to stop waiting for us to move. If we do move, then we can transfer classes/homestudy, etc to where we move. Also, no new updates from Em...she is only 5 months along so she still has awhile to make her decision.
There have been a few girls, on a message board that I frequent often, that were able to announce that they are finally pregnant! YEAH! Two of the girls had IVF and are pregnant with twins..how exciting! Another girl announced her pregnancy awhile back and she also had IVF and is pregnant with a little girl. I am so happy for them....they waited so long! It has also opened our eyes up to IVF and maybe, at some point, may be something we check more into.

The other big decision-one that I had no control over- is that the big trial that was supposed to start this coming Monday has been continued. UGH! I was not happy as the trial was supposed to last until Dec and then we'd finally be done! Instead, it is now set for February through May of next year. UGH UGH UGH! I guess the good thing is that I can now enjoy moving, start the adoption stuff sooner, and I'll be well prepared for the next trial..hopefully.

I think that is all that has really been going on with us for now...oh! How could I forget...football season! Go Colts! I can't wait to be able to go see them play at their new stadium...hopefully someday soon. Andy's mom is flying out here to visit the first week of October! I'm very excited to see her! It's always good to see family! Hopefully we'll be seeing some more family members this fall or early next year..I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Last post I said I was ready for fall...Fall starts this week! YEAH!

I'm ready for fall!

All of a sudden today it hit me that I'm ready for it to be Fall! I'm ready for those cool evenings, apple cider, and the smell of firewood burning. Ahhh....
Random, I know! Hope everyone had a great Labor Day!
